In the ‘80’s, people thought women were not rising to the top because they wanted to be mothers. The joke was that a lot of women denied senior slots were not mothers. It was never about motherhood, and it never will be. It’s about ‘otherhood.’ At a certain point, competence is proven and it becomes a matter of comfort. There’s a need to change the comfort formula, to show that women and men are highly complementary.”
