I saw the story on the growing ( do I dare say ) Stiletto Network movement and thought it was very interesting, overdue and inspiring. My question is .. does one need to be ” successful” to participate ? Is the successful definition in terms of career and family…career only…family only? I would love to benefit from the power of strong …connected and emboldened women. I am a 55 year old who has interrupted her career several times for her son’s illness and then later for her own ( breast cancer) and more recently for her aging parents…only to now be faced with foreclosure and bankruptcy. I need to have an encore career a new chapter . A protracted and costly divorce years ago ..a stay at home mom who redirected her career several times…unsuccessfully in many people’s eyes but now am at a loss about what help there is out there for someone like me. I have a lot to offer. A college degree…part of a masters , previous a series 7 license but I am unemployable so it seems in this market and while I have many entrepreneurial ideas…lack the resources in many ways to stay afloat never mind start a business. Is it too late for me to be successful…do I not have anything to offer women in these networks or can I offer my resilience, perseverance and wherewithal and compassion for those facing similar adversity in exchange for some practical hands on help. This Stiletto Network has me very excited. I have ordered Pamela’s book and shall learn more. Though I am not yet at the top rung on the success ladder as a professional businesswoman, the path before me is clear. Just making friends is enough of an attraction for me. If such a network does not exist in Denver, I’m the woman to start it. Turn me loose!

At Allen they say, ‘Why don’t you have a women’s conference?’ Well, the world doesn’t need another large women’s conference. My question is: Are these people who would go to your funeral?”
